GirlFunds Privacy Policy
1. Scope
"Personal Information" is any information that can be used to identify an individual, and may include, but is not limited to, name, email address, postal or other physical address and other information required to provide a service that you have requested. If you give GirlFunds any Personal Information, GirlFunds will treat it according to this policy. You can decline to submit personal information to GirlFunds, in which case GirlFunds may not be able to provide services to you.

3. Collection of Your Personal Information
3.1
Why Personal Information is Collected. GirlFunds will always tell you before it collects any Personal Information and will inform you of the purpose of the collection. Some of the reasons for which GirlFunds may collect your Personal Information include:
- registration for an account with GirlFunds
- use of GirlFunds services
- requesting support for GirlFunds services
- providing feedback on the GirlFunds site
Cookies. Like many websites, GirlFunds uses technologies such as cookies (a data file written to a hard drive by some Web sites) and web beacons (a convenient way of gathering basic statistics and managing cookies). GirlFunds uses these technologies in two ways: (1) To make sure that you are the owner of the account you are entering. For this purpose, cookies are necessary for the GirlFunds website to function. If you have cookies disabled, it is impossible for you to log into GirlFunds. (2) To collect anonymous statistics about users, (i.e. "analytics"). We use Google Analytics, which is a standard throughout the web industry.
3.3Log information. When you access GirlFunds services, our servers automatically record information that your browser sends whenever you visit a website. These server logs may include information such as your web request, Internet Protocol address, browser type, browser language, the date and time of your request and one or more cookies that may uniquely identify your browser. GirlFunds' server logs are kept privately on GirlFunds' server for diagnostics/debugging of the webserver. We may also use the server log for GirlFunds to anonymously track analytics and answer questions like "which page/feature is the most popular on GirlFunds?"
3.4User communications. When you send email or other communications to GirlFunds (including via the Feedback function), we may retain those communications in order to process your inquiries, respond to your requests and improve our services.
3.5Links and Other Sites. GirlFunds' websites may provide links to other third-party websites which are outside our control and not covered by this policy. We encourage you to review the privacy policies posted on these (and all) sites you visit.
4. Non-personal/anonymous information collection
In some instances, GirlFunds may collect non-personal (aggregate or demographic) data through cookies, web logs, and web beacons. This information is used to better understand and improve the usability, performance, and effectiveness of the website. Please read the "Cookies" section above for more information.
5. Uses of your personal information
We will only use your Personal Information in the way we specify when it is collected. We will not subsequently change the way your Personal Information is used without your consent. If we propose to use Personal Information for any purposes other than those described in this Privacy Policy, we will offer you an effective way to opt out of the use of personal information for those other purposes.
Some of the ways we may use your Personal Information include:
- Providing our services;
- Auditing, research and analysis in order to maintain, protect and improve our services;
- Ensuring the technical functioning of our network;
- Protecting the rights or property of GirlFunds and/or our users; and
- Developing new services.
6. Accessing and updating your personal information and Unsubscibing
We need your help in keeping the Personal Information you have shared with us accurate and up to date. Please notify us of any changes to your Personal Information. If you are a registered user, you may make these updates or request deactivation of your GirlFunds account by sending an email to info@girlfunds.org.
7. Sharing your personal information
We do not sell or rent your Personal Information to third parties for marketing purposes unless you have granted us permission to do so.
We may share your Personal Information within GirlFunds for purposes of data processing or storage.
We may respond to subpoenas, court orders, or legal process by disclosing your Personal Information and other related information, if necessary. We also may choose to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims.
We may collect and possibly share Personal Information and any other additional information available to us in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, violations of GirlFunds's terms of use, protect against harm to the rights, property or safety of GirlFunds, its users or the public as required or permitted by law or as otherwise required by law.
We may share with third parties certain pieces of aggregated, non-Personal Information such as the number of users who searched for a particular term, for example, or how many users clicked on a particular advertisement. Such information does not identify you individually. Some advertisers may use user-supplied information, e.g. items on your list, to provide relevant advertisements to users.
8. Security of your personal information
We take appropriate security measures to protect against unauthorized access to or unauthorized alteration, disclosure or destruction of data. These include internal reviews of our data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures, as well as physical security measures to guard against unauthorized access to systems where we store personal data.
We restrict access to Personal Information to GirlFunds employees, contractors and agents who need to know that information in order to operate, develop or improve our services. These individuals are bound by confidentiality obligations and may be subject to discipline, including termination and criminal prosecution, if they fail to meet these obligations.
While we strive to protect your Personal Information, we cannot ensure the security of the information you transmit.
We recommend that you take every precaution in protecting your Personal Information when you are on the Internet such as, for example, changing your passwords often, using a combination of letters and numbers when creating passwords, and making sure you use a secure browser.
9. Children's privacy
GirlFunds does not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under the age of 13. If we learn that we have collected Personal Information on a child under the age of 13, we will delete that data from our systems.
Please visit the Federal Trade Commission's Website for more tips on protecting children's privacy online.
10. Your California Privacy Rights
Residents of the State of California have the right under the California Civil Code to request from companies conducting business in California a list of all third parties to which the company has disclosed Personal Information during the preceding year for direct marketing purposes. Alternatively, the law provides that if the company has a privacy policy that gives either an Opt-out or Opt-in choice for use of your Personal Information by third parties (such as advertisers) for marketing purposes, the company may instead provide you with information on how to exercise your disclosure choice options.
GirlFunds qualifies for the alternative option; it has a comprehensive Privacy Policy and provides you with details on how you may either Opt-out or Opt-in to the use of your Personal Information by third parties for direct marketing purposes. Therefore, we are not required to maintain or disclose a list of the third parties that received your Personal Information for marketing purposes during the preceding year. If you are a California resident and request information about how to exercise your third party disclosure choices you must send a request to info@girlfunds.org.
11. Enforcement
GirlFunds regularly reviews its compliance with this Privacy Policy. Please feel free to direct any questions or concerns regarding this Privacy Policy or GirlFunds's treatment of Personal Information by contacting us through this web site at info@girlfunds.org.
12. Changes to this Privacy Policy
GirlFunds may amend this Privacy Policy from time to time, and at any time. We will post a notice whenever this Privacy Policy is materially changed. Your continued use of the GirlFunds website after any change will signify and confirm your assent to those changes.
